Great Dane, Mom and Pup

Now here’s a heartwarming scene. Momma curls up with the baby on the bed, giving the baby a big hug, cuddling up and keeping the baby warm. Gently she lays her head across him and they fall asleep together. So sweet.

Now look at the baby. Don’t those eyes say “Mom? Um. Your head is huge, and I’d like to be able to breathe better. Please move. Mom?”

I mean, seriously, her head is as big as the entire puppy! It’s hard to imagine such a huge dog was once that small, isn’t it?

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom’s birthday!

That has nothing to do with Vivian Shimley’s absolutely adorable Great Danes, Marco and Zoe, but as a good son I have to take this opportunity to wish my mom a very happy birthday. Hopefully this picture of two cute dogs will make your day, mom! And if not, then hopefully those flowers I sent get to you today and THEY make your day. Either way, I hope today is a good one!

Bobby, the Great Dane

Check out this big boy!  I’m not normally one for naming dogs with people names, but when the dog is the size of a person, eats like a person, and standing on two legs is taller than most people, I’m okay with it.Bobby’s a big gentle giant, as are most Great Danes, but because of their size they aren’t suggested as good family pets for those that have small children.

According to the AKC (American Kennel Club), well-bred Great Danes aren’t klutzes, and are, in fact, supposed to be graceful, but I’d always worry about them tripping over their own four feet because they look klutzy!Still, Bobby is an amazingly gentle and beautiful dog, and I love seeing him go for walks, pulling along his walker as she tries, in vain, to get him to go back home.
