Izzy in a Dress

Miniature Schnauzer in a dress

This is Izzy, a Miniature Schnauzer. Izzy’s owner, Becky, said when I asked her if she would send me a few photos that I would soon be drowning in pictures of her baby. Well, I’m drowning in cuteness, that’s for sure!

Schnauzer Puppy!

My cousin Jason raises dogs, and this is one of the cute little puppies he brought to our fourth of July picnic. They ran around and caused havoc. It was great!

My cousin Jason trained dogs for the Air Force about a decade ago. Now he lives at home with a family and breeds dogs to sell. He’s gone from behemoths of gnashing teeth and snarling lips to cute widdle iddle Miniature Schnauzers. Say it with me now: “Awww.”

This is one of his proteges, not quite sure what to make of the camera, but very curious.

Stumble It!

My cousin Jason was in the military for a while, training German Shepards to save lives and take down the bad guys. Now that he’s out of the US military, he dabbles in dog breeding (fully licensed, of course), but has decided to go a little more family-friendly.

This little Miniature Schnauzer puppy is full of energy, able to run around for hours chasing a ball, a stick, a person, or whatever. Left to its own devices, it went and started throwing around a tiny stick itself so that it would have something to chase. Smart as a whip, this is the kind of dog that will catch on to what you’re trying to teach it in moments, and because they’re eager and willing to please they will perform on command.

And if you’re thinking you’ve seen one of these here before, you’re right! Chelsea, our next door neighbor’s dog, is an absolutely excellent representative of the breed!

Chelsea is small, weighing maybe 20 pounds on a day when she’s gotten a little extra food. She’s also very old for her breed, at 13. Yet, any time I let out my dogs, who together outweigh her by about 100 pounds, she comes charging across her backyard to the fence, barking and howling at them to get them to start barking, yipping, and howling back.As soon as my wife or I go out there to chastise our pups for being too loud, Chelsea walks back to her door.

Sometimes, I think I can hear her snickering at my dogs for falling for her act again and again.
