Cody

Pit Bulls can be cute!

Cody didn’t want to be outdone by Kramer’s cuteness, so here he is showing off to the world that Pit Bulls can be cuties too!

Sir Cody

I miss this big guy. He was one of our first foster dogs, and I almost wish we had adopted him.

Cody AKA Houdini

Nervous-looking dog

Pooh Bear had been adopted, Cody was in a good home, the five puppies had found homes faster than I ever would have guessed. Life was good.

Then the phone rang. It was the lady who had adopted Cody, and for several weeks she had been trying to find some way, any way, to keep him in his cage during the day while she was at work! She was frantic! She loves Cody, but when nobody’s around he tends to destroy things.

A little while later she was calmer, and was going to try putting something heavy in front of his cage door to keep him in. I’m hoping it worked, since I haven’t heard from her in a week. I’d hate to see this fantastic dog go back to the SPCA, because he didn’t fare well from all the stress.

Please cross your fingers that it works out to the best, both for Cody, and his new owner.

Cody Saved!

An emaciated and barking dog

This was Cody when we got him to foster from the SPCA; emaciated to the point of health issues and not quite happy with the world around him. You could see that he would be a great pup, but he was hand-shy and object-shy*, stressed by being at the kennels with all those other aggressive-sounding dogs, and generally not a happy little guy.

So, of course, we had to save him!

A happy and healthy dog.

This is Cody the day that we took him to meet his new family. He’s still very slightly underweight, but has filled out nicely. He’s happier, with loads of energy, and a great disposition. He met the new people, and didn’t even flinch while the oldest sibling practiced his pitching**, which consisted of jerky hand movements. He wowed the new family with his friendly and intelligent nature, and after they signed the paperwork he hopped in their car as if he belonged with them.

It was fantastic to see him to go a family who will obviously love him. He’s a good dog, and he’ll be missed.

Well, he’ll be missed until they call us (we gave them our number) to set up a play-date with our little girl dogs!

*For those that don’t know, this usually is a sign of previous abuse, and takes some special handling to help them get over it.

**I asked him if he was a third basemen after watching him for a little while. He didn’t appreciate the joke, but I thought it was hilarious!

Cody Leads The Pack!

That skinny little boy leading this trio of misfits is our foster puppy, Cody.  He wasn’t doing too well at the SPCA so we took him home to socialize him with our dogs and feed him ’til he bursts.

You wouldn’t know from his endless energy that he’s severely underweight!  He plays hard with my girls (that’s Monster right behind him, and that set of legs behind her is MaiTai), and absolutely adores the attention.  I was concerned when we brought him home a week ago that they’d be too much for him, but they’re tiring out well before he is!  Must be all that good food he’s getting!

So, welcome to The Pooch Page!  Our foster dog Cody may be leading the pack, but there will be many more to follow!
