Hi!
23. August 2009 by JFargo.
This is Monster again, and she’s a camera hog! She LOVES her picture taken, unlike her sister MaiTai, who we showed yesterday hiding from the camera.
A few of you may have noticed that I’ve started using my dogs for pictures, and I’ve been reusing the same dogs multiple times. An astute few probably know what that means: I need more pictures!
So, if you have a cute dog, and ugly dog, an awesome dog, or a cat that looks like a dog*, please email me a picture or two! I’m sure I’d love to feature them on the site!

What Are You Doing?
21. August 2009 by JFargo.
Any time I try to take a picture of my girls, I get down on the ground so I can take a picture from their level; I’ve been told it usually makes for a better picture than shots from human eye-level.
Of course, me being down on my knees at their level makes them curious as to what I’m doing, so I get this effect more often than not.
But hey, that’s okay. It’s a pretty good picture if I do say so myself.

Monster surreptitiously watches as Cody struts his cutest poses for the camera.

Monster’s Bored
6. April 2009 by JFargo.
We just spent a week on vacation in Western New York. Our dogs came with us, and were relatively very well behaved. Even my wife’s parents, who normally chastise our dogs as being too rambunctious (they call our dogs the “Bumpus dogs”) were impressed at how well behaved they were.
Now we’re home, back in Delaware, and as you can see Monster would like to go back. She seems to think Delaware’s boring. She doesn’t know it yet, but tomorrow she’ll be going to daycare, which should help get rid of that boredom rather quickly!

Monster Muppet
24. February 2009 by JFargo.
It’s amazing to me how different my Monster can look just due to her haircut. Maria saw this from across the room and said she thought I was looking at a Muppet, not a dog!
What do you think? Muppet dog?

Monster
2. February 2009 by JFargo.
Monster comes running around the corner, ears flying, feet barely staying connected to the ground. She races around the garden, past the fence, behind the shed, and around again. There’s a track worn into the ground from all her running, especially behind the shed where you can’t see.
She loves to go out and just run. It makes her happy, so a little track in the ground is something we’re willing to deal with.

Muddy Monster
23. January 2009 by JFargo.
The sun comes out and melts the rain. My girls still want to go out back and play, so I have to let them run around in the back. Their favorite tracks are covered in mud, but that doesn’t stop them from running like crazy.
Check out the big picture to see her paws. This is barely muddy. In Full Mud, her head is brown too.

Chillin’
13. November 2008 by JFargo.
Here’s another look at my furry little girl, Monster. She’s going to get a good grooming next week, with a facial hair-cut, and some good brushing. Unfortunately, I don’t brush her as much as I should. Not to make excuses, but my excuse is that we didn’t have her as a small puppy, and thus didn’t train her to “enjoy” being groomed. Plus, I didn’t know how to groom her for a long time, and so she’s not used to it.
Tomorrow, I’ll be featuring some really cool little dogs who do NOT belong to me. Promise!

Got You!
12. November 2008 by JFargo.
Isn’t it nice of Monster to let MaiTai win, from time to time? When they play, I can tell that MaiTai’s playing hard, playing to win, and Monster (the OES on her back in the picture) is playing just to play. She knows that if she totally dominates the game, MaiTai will stop playing.
It’s amazing how smart she is, sometimes.
And, of course, this picture came moments after snapping this. Heh.

Why Won’t You Play, MaiTai?
6. November 2008 by JFargo.
Sometimes, Monster (the Old English Sheepdog) wants MaiTai (the little brown dog laying on the grass) to play. Sometimes MaiTai, being older, doesn’t really want to play. In order to entice MaiTai into a game of “chase me around the backyard,” Monster will often walk up to her, and paw her in the manner shown above.
Now, this is cute, and funny, but the only problem I see with it is that Monster doesn’t seem to realize that for the first second or two of chasing, starting with the initial *snap* of MaiTai’s teeth, MaiTai’s not really playing.
Oh, I’m sure MaiTai wouldn’t hurt her sister, but her first lunge and run is to try to get Monster to either back off, or to at least show her who’s boss.
On the other hand, unfortunately, MaiTai doesn’t seem to realize that Monster just loves the attention, whether it’s playing, or beating her up.
It’s a good relationship they’ve got.
